Color study: Squares with concentric circles - Wassily Kandinsky

Wassily Kandinsky painted this work in 1913 as a personal colour study, never intended for exhibition. He used it as a reference while working on his major paintings.
Kandinsky believed that colours could evoke a feeling, just as music does. He literally heard sounds when he saw colours: bright yellow sounded like a high note, deep blue like something low and full. Twelve squares, twelve unique colour combinations. It is over a hundred years old and still looks like it was made yesterday.
