Driven by a strong belief in the power of a smile, Gustav Ehrenreich founded his cheerful Hoptimist movement in the late 1960s. The goal was to create a figurine that would constantly remind you to stay positive and optimistic. For while the 1960s are often called the "Swinging Sixties", the decade was also a period of unrest. As a result, Ehrenreich's design became a welcome source of joy in an otherwise turbulent time. Bimble and Bumble are the very first Hoptimists Ehrenreich designed: a girl with laughing eyes in a dress and an alert, curious boy with a tuft on his head. Today, the cheerful Hoptimists are part of Danish design history and bring joy worldwide.
